----- there wasn't much ryleigh valmont wanted to be doing except laying in her bed. or at least today, maybe tomorrow - for the past few days. she wasn't very sore anymore at all, her brusies were healing from when she had 'fallen down the stairs'. she had critisized tristan for putting quotes around the phrase - even though that's how it should be. of course ryleigh didn't actually fall down the stairs, what else was she supposed to say ? she had to come up with something, and falling down the stairs could give her these bruises - other than the finger marks on her neck from when he had choked her. but these bruises were fading. eventually more would appear, and they would fade as well. they were all the same to ryleigh - just bruises. she knew that not even aspen could get her out of bed - she was tired and ashamed, she didn't even want to see her best friend's face. but the one face she'd always want to see was trevor spencer's. she didn't care what she looked like, bruises or no bruises, because she was going to see him. she took her cell phone off of her bedside table and opened it, typing his number and sending him a text message. 'beach, y/n?' she didn't wait for a reply before she got up to change, because trevor was someone she could always count on. she wanted to get out of the house, but more than that, she wanted to see him.
----- ryleigh picked herself up off of her bed, leaving her phone on her bed. her muscles protested as she stood and stretched, squeezing her eyes shut as she did so. she walked over to her full body mirror and winced at her appearance, still not quite what it had been. she hadn't even realized how she'd changed since she started living with greg. more than that, since she lost ellie. her face became whiter, her eyes were dull now. when she smiled you could tell she wasn't really happy, it was a sad smile. bittersweet. her mind was just like her appearence - she didn't seem to care anymore. she was sick of everything. she was sick of gregory and all his shit, she was sick of getting hurt, she was sick of worrying and she was sick of being unwanted. her whole life she'd felt unwanted, her mother gave her to her father because she didn't want her. her father gave her up to a foster agency because he didn't want her. each of those foster families she stayed with that gave her up didn't want her, and finally, when she found ellie, she was happy. when ellie developed cancer, ryleigh became depressed. she felt like it was god's job to ruin her life. right when she's settled in and happy, he'd rip it all away from her so fast she'd get whiplash. then he put her with gregory.. she felt like life was out to get her. the only good thing about living with gregory was noah - she could make sure greg didn't her hurt, too. and she didn't let him hurt her. ever.
----- the sixteen year old ran her fingers through her dark brown, almost black hair. it was fairly short now, just past her shoulders. she didn't do anything with it, and she hadn't for several days. heck, she never really did anything with it except for special occasions. she sighed as she looked at her face - her black eye was still visible, that was for sure. it wasn't as bad as it had been, but it was still pretty bad. she had a bruise on the opposite cheek, right on her cheek bone, and it was fading. the finger marks on her neck were almost gone as well, not noticable. she had a bruise on her arm, maybe two. she would just wear a long sleeved shirt. she turned around and pulled her hair into a messy bun for the time being. she went toward her closet and opened the sliding doors, running her fingers along her shirts and the single dress she had in there. she only had one dress - ever. she'd always been kind of a tomboy, and that dress was from ellie's funeral. she looked away from it and grabbed a white beater with horizontal, gray stripes. she also grabbed a white and gray striped sweater - she threw these two onto her bed. she turned around and headed for her dresser, the second drawer - her jeans. she picked out her favorite pair - not quite skinny jeans, but the bottoms weren't very wide. she threw it on her bed with her shirts. before she changed, she did as she always did. she took the chair from her desk and jammed it underneath her doorknob to keep greg from walking in on her. she'd had it happen before, and.. well, it never turned out well for her. she changed quickly, her mind jumping to the different ways greg could get into her room, her heart racing. she knew he could knock the door open if he tried hard enough, but she'd have time to get dressed because it would take him awhile to get it open.. and there was the window, of course. she shook her head. she was too paranoid.
----- she pulled her t shirt off and pulled the beater on quickly, grabbing her jeans next. she stripped her sweats off and pulled them on as fast as she could, zipping them and buttoning them as well. she grabbed the sweater from her bed and pulled it on over her beater. she took her sweats and her t shirt and threw them on her bed. she headed for her mirror again and attempted to cover her black eye with make up. she covered it a little, but it was definitely still visible. she sighed, and that's when she saw her sunglasses sitting next to the mirror. she grabbed them and put them on. they easily covered her black eye, and she was glad. she didn't like it when anyone worried about her, especially trevor. she slipped her shoes on, and as she did so she heard someone jiggle the doorknob. she froze for a moment, then her heart went into overdrive. she could hear the blood rushing behind her ears and she felt sick to her stomach. she stood up quickly and half ran to her bedroom door, pulling the chair out from under it and opening the door. she was expecting to see gregory there, standing in front of the door, but when she looked up to where she expected his face to be, she saw nothing. she looked down and saw noah standing in front of her, smiling. there was a bruise on her left cheekbone and it was fading. she felt terrible that she wasn't able to prevent it, and when she tried to stop him, he'd strangled her. ryleigh didn't understand how noah could keep herself so happy all the time. ryleigh smiled back at noah, pulling her into a small hug. ryleigh had known gregory would be at work, why did she think otherwise ? she shook her head. ryleigh would drop noah off at the neighbor's, because noah had a friend that lived there.
----- the two left a few minutes later. ryleigh gave noah a hug and a kiss and said goodbye and she turned around and headed for the beach, her sunglasses still on. she couldn't let the neighbors see her eye, they'd just assume things. she knew they could hear the yelling at night. the walk to the beach wasn't too long, but she could tell when she got closer because it got cooler and windier - and she could smell the salt in the air. it was about five in the afternoon, and in the summer the sun didn't set until about nine in the evening, so it was certainly still sunny out. when she reached the beach, trevor wasn't there yet. she walked out, away from the pier. there were people around, but not many. it was getting late and people were going home, so she walked to around where everyone had cleared out, except for one man asleep on his stomach who was for sure going to be regretting falling asleep in the sun tomorrow. she walked to a rockbar and stepped up onto it, walking out into the water a little. if this beach weren't in california, as there are hardly any tides in california, this rockbar would be underwater during high tide. the wind whipped her petite body harder than it would if she were down lower on the stand. it blew her hair behind her face and part of her sweater behind her, bringing goosebumps to her skin.

----- it had only been a couple of days since trevor had been back from Italy and he had been dog tired of course but that wasn’t what was bothering him at all. it was the fact that he never told his best friend that he was actually ‘out’ of town at the time. his aunt had told him that it would be better that he only told his family that he was actually going to go look for his real parents though he was already feeling bad because truly the spencer’s were his real parents in some ways but you can’t go through life not knowing your real parents but then again you really didn’t need to know. he sighed knowing that the whole trip was a bust anyways since his real parents had moved from Italy a long time again. letting out a sigh, trevor rolled over on his bed before letting his eyes roam the ceiling of his room before feeling his cell phone shake under him which made him jump just a letting. Moving his do tag necklace out of the way he looked at the screen seeing ryleigh’s name flashing his heart dropped before flipping the phone open looking at what she had wrote. ‘beach, y/n?’ he smiled not replying back because she knew he was going to come no matter what, he was just lucky he had gotten home two days earlier than expected. he smiled knowing he really wanted to get out of the house but more alone the lines ask her what he had been waiting to ask her for nearly all their lives actually.
----- ttrevor sighed picking himself off his bed, letting his cold feet hit the warm carpet, trevor let out a loud yawn before throwing his phone onto his bed. his eyes laid onto the pool in his backyard before looking at his mother and father having a romantic moment. he wanted that so badly to the point that he couldn’t stand it anymore. he smiled letting his fingers softy touch the cold window before pushing off of it and walking over to his door, opening it softly and walking quickly to his bathroom before closing the door. trevor nearly fell over the close that blaise had left on the floor once again. he let out a loud groan before throwing the nasty clothes into the hamper next to the door. he sighed before turning on the shower and taking off the clothes that he was currently wearing before stepping into the shower. He was trying to wash away the feeling that he was getting, the fact that he was never going to meet his real parents at all. when they had gotten to Italy he was so nerves without even knowing it and after the third day of being there he had finally given up really. If they didn’t want to see him he didn’t want to see them either. Letting out a deep sigh, trevor finished his shower before grabbing a towel and wrapping it around him. What he had planned today was hopefully going to change his relationship with ryleigh for the better, he hoped that he was going to be making a fool out of himself. brushing his teeth, and fixing his hair the way he wanted. He patted right back into his room closing the door softly.
----- now currently in a pair of skinny jeans, yes skinny jeans they were currently his favorite for the summer, now that he was actually grow up and stuff like that he wanted a change, and since the summer started he was actually grow up. He started to work out a lot more, wearing his perfectly shaped body right as he was supposed to it was just something he was doing. opening his closet he, grabbed his tan leather jacket before throwing his jacket onto the bed. he turned around, grabbing his dog tag necklace in the palm of his hand before looking around walking slowly to this dresser to grab a plain white tee shirt before pulling the shirt over his head before running his fingers throw his head once again. he was starting to feel a nasty feeling in his tummy, butterflies god he was getting butterflies. He had never done this before, well he had actually done this before at one time but it didn’t mean anything it was just that she wasn’t special like ryleigh meant to him, it could have been love but he knew that you never ever would find love in high school, he felt something for ryleigh but he wasn’t sure how he was supposed to show this feeling and what other way then to just come out with it and tell her like he was going to do today, although he was blunt and rude at times he knew that he was going to have to grow up and this is the way he was going to grow up by asking her out like this. he smiled grabbing the jacket off his bed and sliding his arms through the sleeves. He knew it was most likely going to be really hot but he was going to the beach and well he had a tan already from being in Italy so he wasn’t going to actually want to get darker at al. letting out a soft sigh he grabbed his car keys from the drawer before running down the stairs into the backyard where his mother and father were outside chilling by the pool.
----- as his father slept by the side of the pool, his mother nodded to him to wait as she sat up jogging over to her little boy even if he wasn’t actually her’s he was her’s no matter what anyone would tell her. Letting out a yawn, his mother ran her fingers through her childs hair before leading him into the garage. He smiled as she opened the door walking himself and opening the fridge. he blinked a little too excited, more than he actually should have been. When she giggled handing him the arrangement of different flowers, he had picked it in Italy actually and since they could deliver he was glad that he could give her different flowers than anyone had ever had. ryleigh was different and a special unique girl like her needed an arrangement that showed her not just something picked at random. feeling his mother’s lips on his cheek he smiled as she walked out back to the pool again. more nervous than ever, he groaned looking over the flowers before walking out of the garage again. walking over to his truck, he opened the door before sliding in once again. placing the flowers in the passenger seat, he froze again before turning the truck on. he sighed noticing that he forget his phone once again. jumping out of the truck he ran into the house and upstairs before grabbing his phone and running downstairs once again, out the door slamming it behind him and climbing into his truck once again. biting his lip, he hooked himself into the seatbelt. Taking a deep breath before placing his foot onto the brake getting ready to drive off and hopefully he was going to claim what was his right now and right there. Looking over at the flowers once again, one day, one day those flowers would be ryleigh to be honest they were going to be. he closed his eyes, backing out of the drive way and driving down the street getting ready for one of the best days he hoped in his life.
----- driving down the street, he placed his sunglasses onto his face. He knew since he watched the special on television about the sun being unhealthy for yours eyes he really didn’t want to go blind before his senior year in high school. The drive to the beach wasn’t that long but maybe that was because he was so nervous he wasn’t playing much attention to how long the drive was at all. what if she says no ? what if she starts to cry ? he tapped his fingers onto the wheel, god he was pushing this way over the top of his head, of course she was going to say yes. But she was his best friend and maybe she didn’t want to ruin the friendship, but he knew what she had been going through since in some ways she had been going through it with him but he didn’t want her to think he was just going to ask her out to make her feel better because that wasn’t the reason why he was doing it at all. he sighed as he pulled into the parking lot of the beach, he was so nervous right now he could pee himself and he was most likely going to very soon. he sighed grabbing the flowers before slipping out of the car. Fixing his hair once again he started to walk as the people coming from the beach were starting to go home. He eyed them as they started to whisper how cute he looked with the flowers and either he was blushing or it was the wind blowing on his cheek. Walking for a while he finally saw her on a rock bar, the wind whipping her petite body. she looked really pretty in the sunset setting, god this wasn’t going to make him feel any better, as he walked closer, he sighed stepping onto the rockbar with her and smling. ”pretty isn’t it, I like sunsets.” he mumbled before looking at her. ”uhm these are for you..” he stated holding the flowers out for her. ”um, I just feel bad for not being there for you lately…” he stated looking at her once again before looking back at the water. ”by the way, how are you holding up? And please don’t lie to me.” for some reason his soft side always came out with him and as she took the flowers he placed his hands into his pants keeping the silences because he didn’t want to make her feel worse…if that was possible anyways.
